The only road closure/detour on Sunday will be at the intersection of College Road and Old Colony Road, where one of the medical tents will be.
In just a couple of days, roughly 9,000 people will be making their way down Washington Street and Commonwealth Avenue in Newton for the 24th annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk. The walk will take place this Sunday, Sept. 9 and three of the four walking routes will pass through Newton. The longest route, from Hopkinton Center School to Copley Square, will follow the same 26.2-mile path of the annual Boston Marathon. Once walkers get to Washington Street in Wellesley (Route 16), they will continue into Newton up to Commonwealth Avenue and into Brighton.
