CSC Dismisses Case Involving Newton Firefighter Arrested for Drunk Driving

Brice Adams, a former Newton Firefighter, was fired after being arrested for drunk driving earlier this year.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) recently dismissed an appeal filed by a former Newton Firefighter who was fired after a drunk driving incident in Newton. According to a decision filed on September 22, the CSC dismissed the appeal after it concluded the former firefighter, Brice Adams, did not file his appeal within the proper amount of time after he was fired. Adams was arrested on March 27 after he allegedly drove drunk and hit a street light near the intersection of Crafts Street and North Street.  In addition, the CSC documents say police reports indicate he used "strong profanity and facial slurs" at the time of his arrest. Reports also say he was smoking, which goes against a Massachusetts law prohibiting firefighters from smoking …
