Addis Woldeguiorguis, of Dorchester, did not appear at his arraignment this morning in Middlesex Superior Court.
A warrant was issued this morning for a man who authorities say crashed a special needs van into the back of a garbage truck in Newton last summer. Superior Court Clerk Magistrate Michael Sullivan issued the default warrant this morning in Woburn after Addis Woldeguiorguis did not appear in court. Woldeguiorguis, of Dorchester, was indicted last month on multiple drug and assault charges. According to the Middlesex County District Attorney's office, a notice had been sent to Woldeguiorguis' last known address. A man who authorities say crashed a special needs van into the back of a garbage truck in Newton will appear for arraignment in Middlesex Superior Court next month. According to Middlesex County District Attorney Spokeswoman Cara O'Brien, Addis Gabriel Woldeguiorguis, 43, of Dorchester, will be arrainged on January 12. Updated 4:45 p.m. The driver in yesterday's crash involving a special needs van was ordered held on $5,000 cash bail today at his arraignment in Newton District Court. Addis Gabriel Woldeguiorguis, 51, of Dorchester, was allegedly driving under the influence of drugs when he crashed a van into the back of a garbage truck on Highland Street. The van was carrying 12 special needs adults on their way to the Barry Price Rehabilitation Center in West Newton. Newton Police arrested a 51-year-old Dorchester man for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs during the accident which sent 13 people to hospital Monday morning. Addis Gabriel Woldeguiorguis of 38 Vesta Road in Dorchester, was arrested on the charge of driving under the influence of drugs when the accident occurred on Highland Street at 9:13 a.m. Monday, said Newton Police Spokesman Bruce Apotheker. The Police Department's Accident Reconstruction Team is still investigating the accident, Apotheker said.
