Movie Filmed in Newton to Premiere Later this Month

The ABC Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, "The Makeover" was filmed in Newton back in October.

Back in October, parts of Homer Street and Commonwealth Avenue were filled with movie trailers and lighting rigs as the made-for-television movie "The Makeover" filmed at Newton City Hall.  But when will we be able to catch the Garden City scenes? As noted in an Oct. 17 article, we had a rough idea as to when you would be able to catch the movie, but now an official date has been set.  "The Makeover," which stars Julia Stiles, will air on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 9 p.m. - 11 p.m. on ABC.  According to the movie's website, Stiles plays an education consultant, Hannah Higgins, who decides to run for Congress in Boston. PHOTOS: Movie Crews Film 'The Makeover' at Newton City Hall

A few city officials got to chat with some of the stars of the TV movie, including Julia Stiles.

On Tuesday, Oct. 9, Newton City Hall was used as a filming location for the Hallmark Hall of Fame TV movie "The Makeover" starring Julia Stiles.  Roughly 150 cast and crew members spread out around the grounds, shooting scenes involving a political character running for office: Elliot Doolittle. According to Boston.com, Doolittle is a blue-collar candidate from Southie running for Congress in the movie. Stiles plays a former congressional candidate who tries to coach Doolittle into a winning politician. City officials and employees had a chance to meet some of the stars of the movie, including Stiles.  Although the filming was only scheduled for Tuesday, crews will be back on scene tomorrow to finish cleaning up the set.  Check out more …

TV Movie to Be Filmed in Newton Next Week

The movie, "The Makeover", stars Julia Stiles.

Film trucks, trailers and equipment will fill the area around Newton City Hall next week as crews film scenes for ABC's new TV movie, "The Makeover", starring Julia Stiles. The "large-scale filming project" will begin setting up on Monday and film throughout the day on Tuesday, according to Newton Citizen Assistance Officer Aaron Goldman.  Scenes for the movie will be filmed inside the War Memorial, at the Inspectional Services counter and inside City Hall's main rotunda. Film crews will also be at City Hall on Wednesday to clean up the set and take down any remaining equipment.  "The work will be very visible throughout all three days, especially on Tuesday, with a significant amount of trucks and equipment outside the building," Goldman …
