New Principal Selected for Newton's Lincoln-Eliot Elementary

Elaine Harold is currently serving as interim principal at Lincoln-Eliot.

After several years of interim principals at Lincoln-Eliot Elementary, Superintendent David Fleishman announced this week that he has officially appointed a new principal for the Nonantum elementary school.  Marcia Uretsky, current principal at Tucker Elementary School in Milton, will begin July 1, 2013 as the new head of Lincoln-Eliot Elementary, according to a memo issued to the Lincoln-Eliot community this week.  In his memo, Fleishman notes Uretsky's efforts to improve student achievement at the Tucker School and her reputation as an instructional and managerial leader.  "Throughout the search, Marcia impressed us with a keen understanding of teaching and learning, a rich background in literacy, and a tremendous commitment to meeting …

New Interim Principal Named for Newton's Lincoln-Eliot

The interim principal will be coming from another interim position in Wellesley.

Superintendent David Fleishman announced yesterday that he has appointed Elaine Harold as interim principal at Lincoln-Eliot Elementary School for the 2012-2013 school year. Harold is currently the principal at Fiske Elementary School in Wellesley and will be retiring from that position in June after 17 years of service, Fleishman's letter said.  "Elaine is a highly competent and experienced principal who brings a track record of leadership that is characterized by collaboration, consistency and fairness," Fleishman said in a May 29 letter. Newton Mayor to Hold Another CDBG Roundtable Discussion

Mayor Setti Warren held a similar meeting earlier this year at the Newton Boys & Girls Club.

Newton Mayor Setti Warren will hold another roundtable discussion this week related to funding for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).  The discussion will take place tomorrow, May 1, at Lincoln-Eliot Elementary School, which receives CDBG funds. The meeting starts at 11:15 a.m. Warren held a similar discussion in early February at the Boys and Girls Club with numerous local leaders and Dept. of Housing and Urban Development Asst. Secretary Mercedes Marquez. At that time, the local leaders emphasized the importance of the funding and how it helps "fill in the gaps" where money is short in local community programs. New Principal Named for Newton's Lincoln-Eliot Elementary

The school's new principal will be Darilyn Donovan, who currently serves as interim assistant superintendent in Watertown.

Starting in September, students at Lincoln-Eliot Elementary in Newton will have a new principal leading their school.  Superintendent David Fleishman has appointed Darilyn Donovan to be the next principal of Lincoln-Eliot. Donovan currently works as the interim assistant superintendent in the Watertown Public Schools.  Fleishman reported on the Lincoln-Eliot news at last night's School Committee meeting.  Donovan will replace current Lincoln-Eliot Interim Principal Greg Hurray, who will retire at the end of this school year.  In a Feb. 15 memo, Fleishman made Donovan's appointment official, noting her experience as both a teacher and an administrator.
