VIDEO/PHOTOS: Honoring Mayor Mann at Newton City Hall

Mayor Setti Warren dedicated the Executive Conference Room, or room 209, to former Newton Mayor Ted Mann on Wednesday. The room now includes photos, campaign memorabilia and news articles featuring Newton's longest-serving and most beloved mayor.

The Honorable Theodore D. Mann Community Prayer Berakfast, which was also renamed in Mann's honor, was held earlier on Wednesday at Boston College.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Newton Community Honors Mayor Mann at Annual Prayer Breakfast

Local elected officials and community members gathered Wednesday for the annual Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast at Boston College and to pay tribute to former Newton Mayor Ted Mann. Mayor Setti Warren officially renamed the breakfast in Mann's honor.

"With a passion, determination and twinkle in his eye, and a great sense of humor, Mayor Ted Mann changed the face of Newton for the better and cemented our community as one of the best places to live in the world." Mayor Setti Warren stood alongside Boston Mayor Tom Menino, Boys & Girls Club of Boston CEO Josh Kraft as well as a number of other local elected officials and community members to honor former Mayor Ted Mann at the Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast held Wed., May 23, 2012.  Warren renamed the breakfast in honor of Mayor Mann, who started the tradition nearly 40 years ago. Boston Mayor Menino to Join Newton Mayor for Annual Prayer Breakfast

The annual Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast will be held next Wednesday, May 23, at Boston College.

Along with a number of local officials, community members and religious leaders, Mayor Setti Warren will welcome Boston Mayor Tom Menino to the Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast next week. The annual event, which will be held Wed., May 23 at Boston College, aims to bring together community members from all walks of life and religions to support the Foundation for Racial, Ethnic and Religious Harmony.  Last month, Warren announced he will name the annual Community Prayer Breakfast in honor of former Newton Mayor Theodore "Teddy" Mann, who founded the breakfast in 1975. “I am delighted that Mayor Menino will be joining us to celebrate the legacy of Mayor Mann, and I look forward to welcoming him to Newton,” Mayor Warren said in a press …

Tom Menino is the Roslindale native who had no clue where the city of Newton was located 20 years ago. In the early 1990's Menino was quoted as saying he had heard of Newton, it was out in the western part of the state. Prayer Breakfast, Conference Room to be Named After Mayor Mann

The annual Community Service Award will also be given in Mann's name.

Mayor Setti Warren announced this week he is taking a couple of measures to continue the legacy of former Newton Mayor Theodore Mann.  According to a press release issued this week, Warren will name the annual Mayor's Community Prayer Breakfast in honor of Mann. In addition, the annual Community Service Award will be given in Mann's name. The Community Prayer Breakfast, which was started by Mann in 1975, will be held this year at Boston College on Wed., May 23 at 7:30 a.m. “Mayor Mann gave so much to this community, and was an inspiration to countless Newton residents, myself included,” Warren said in the press release. “It is essential that we preserve his legacy for generations to come.” In addition to the breakfast, Warren will also …
