A Newton teen was held on $2,500 cash bail today following an arraignment in Newton District Court for a charge of attempted murder. William Martin, 19, of 36 Deforest Road, was also ordered to be held under house arrest if he posts bail, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. Martin was arrested on April 23 after he allegedly stabbed a 23-year-old Newton man multiple times, according to Newton Police. The incident occurred on Deforest Road in Newton Lower Falls and the victim was transported to Beth Israel Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The man who allegedly pulled a gun on a fellow driver in Newton Thursday afternoon is being held on $5,000 cash bail following an arraignment in Newton District Court this morning, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. Byung Jin Kang, 21, of Newton, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (handgun) and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Newton Police. A Newton man was held without bail last week in a case involving an alleged armed home invasion on Falmouth Road. James Bryant, 26, was held following a dangerousness hearing in Newton District Court last Wednesday, Sept. 26, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Spokesperson Stephanie Guyotte. Bryant pleaded not guilty on Sept. 24 to charges of breaking and entering in the daytime, putting a person in fear, assault and battery (two counts) and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (two counts). Bryant is due back in court on Oct. 16 for a pretrial conferece, Guyotte said. This unfortunately will probably not be Evan's last brush with the law. It's hard to learn a lesson when Mommy and Daddy come bailing you out every time you get in trouble. Morrissey, 34, of 9 Capital St., was arrested on Nov. 16 around 10:50 p.m. after police responded to Capital Street for reports of a woman screaming. A Cambridge man was sentenced to three years probation and six months house arrest today after pleading guilty in Newton District Court to charges of motor vehicle homicide. Detlev Vagts, 82, a retired Harvard professor, also received conditions today that he does not drive for the rest of his life, the Middlesex County District Attorney's office said. In addition, Vagts must also write a letter of apology to the family of Marcia Kearney, who died after Vagts struck her with his vehicle while she was riding a Vespa.
