Newton Home Sales Up 15 Percent in 2012
The median price of homes in Newton increased by 4 percent.
Newton saw a 15 percent increase in single-family home sales in 2012, according to statistics gathered by the Warren Group, the Boston-based real estate and banking information publishers for New England. Year-end numbers show Newton at 669 single-family home sales, compared to 581 sales in 2011. In December alone, 43 single-family homes were sold in Newton, a 26 percent increase over the number sold in December 2011. According to a Warren Group press release, 2012 Massachusetts home sales were the highest in six years, increasing 18 percent in 2012. Seeing as home sales we up 15% in Newton in 2012, I would have to imagine they are up even more in 2013. Would love to see that statistic. My Newton MA real estate friend said home buying has been soaring in Newton over the past few months and into the spring.
