Police: Man Showed Gun in Apparent Road Rage Incident on Route 9 in Newton

The incident was reported Wednesday on Route 9 westbound in Newton.

For the second time in a week, Newton Police are reporting an apparent road rage incident that resulted in one driver pulling out a gun.  According to police reports, the Newton Police Department received information from the Wellesley Police Department around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding a road rage incident on Route 9 that involved one driver showing a black handgun. The victim, who initially reported the incident to a Wellesley detail officer, told police he was driving on Route 9 westbound when another driver brandished a black handgun at him near the Elliot Street intersection in Newton. Man Arraigned in Newton Road Rage Incident

Byung Jin Kang, 21, of Newton, is facing multiple weapons charges.

The man who allegedly pulled a gun on a fellow driver in Newton Thursday afternoon is being held on $5,000 cash bail following an arraignment in Newton District Court this morning, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. Byung Jin Kang, 21, of Newton, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (handgun) and unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Newton Police. The road rage incident happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday on Dedham Street in Newton, police said. According to a report on WHDH, the two drivers pulled over after Kang was cut off by the victim. Once the two men pulled over, Kang allegedly pulled out a loaded .32-caliber revolver, police said. The victim was able to talk Kang into putting the gun…

Maybe we will use some common sense and teach gun safety more avidly. Obviously punishing law abiding citizens will stop criminals from acquiring weapons. That would make total sense.   more ›
