City: Remember to Put Out Trash/Recycling on Regular Collection Day
Unlike many cities and towns in Massachusetts, Newton decided not to delay its trash collection this week. But why?
Some Newton residents were caught by surprise early this week when the trash pickup was not delayed despite the Christmas holiday. According to Public Works Commissioner David Turocy, Waste Management approached the city last month and asked to keep the collection schedule the same for this week and next week, despite the holidays. Due to Christmas and New Year's Day falling on a Sunday, the holidays are observed the following Monday. This means a delay in trash collection for many cities and towns in the state, including the city of Boston.
