The Indoor Farmers' Market is open, the library's poetry series is back and the Newton-Needham Chamber will host an informative event for Newton restaurants.

1. "Ask Newton's Health Inspectors." Newton Health and Human Services Commissioner Dori Zaleznik and the city's four health inspectors will give an informative, interactive presentation this afternoon on the health code inspection process for restaurants. The event will be held at O'Hara's in Newton Highlands from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. 2. Indoor farmers' market. The Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will set up today from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hyde Community Center. Stop by and browse products like fresh fish, produce, cheese, spices and more.  3. O'Hara Brothers Share Details on Expanded Restaurant and Menu

John and Karl O'Hara talk about the expansion of their Newton Highlands location, O'Hara's, how it differs from Paddy's in West Newton and how their customers, family and employees may be gone- but never forgotten.

What do you do to add to nearly 27 years of success in your two Newton Irish pubs/restaurants? If you are the O’Hara brothers, you expand your Newton Highlands location, O’Hara’s, and start serving Sunday brunch. “Basically, this just gives people more opportunity to be here,” laughs Karl. “We open at 10 a.m. so you can get in early.” John and Karl O’Hara have spent most of their lives in the restaurant business. Their father, Curt, was the longtime manager at Finnerty’s in Wayland. We live just a few blocks from Paddy's and we absolutely love it. I've never ordered anything there that I didn't like. I hope they start serving brunch sometime, too. I bet the brunch at O'Hara's is fantastic and there aren't any brunch places in West Newton!   more ›

Newton Mayor Holds "Mayor's Night Out" Next Week

Mayor Setti Warren will host the first in a series of office hours held outside City Hall.

Have something you want to talk about with the mayor? It's as easy as stopping by your local pub. Mayor Setti Warren will be hosting a "Mayor's Night Out" next Thursday at O'Hara's Food & Spirits in Newton Highlands. The evening is the first in a series of office hours Warren will be holding outside City Hall.  "Communicating directly with residents is one of the most important aspects of being mayor.
