  Massachusetts would see more than $91 million in federal funds cut from a myriad of programs if Congress fails to act this week to avoid the sequester, the Obama Administration said Sunday. In a move designed to pressure Republicans into accepting new taxes on the wealthy as part of a deal to prevent the sequester from taking effect on Friday, the White House released reports that outlined how those cuts would impact individual states, The Huffington Post reported. President Obama will deliver his State Of The Union address at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12.

President Barack Obama will deliver his fifth State of the Union address at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12. According to the New York Times, Obama will outline his second term agenda and focus on improving America’s middle class. He also plans to announce ways to improve education, infrastructure, manufacturing and clean energy.  In addition, Obama is also expected to announce that 34,000 troops - or about half the force in Afghanistan - will return by early 2014, Reuters reported this morning. Report: John Kerry to Be Secretary of State Nominee

The Massachusetts Senator would replace outgoing Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.

President Obama plans to nominate U.S. Senator John Kerry for Secretary of State, according to ABC News.  Kerry, if nominaed by Obama and confirmed by the Senate, would replace outgoing Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. Obama has reportedly made his decision but does not plan to announce it within the next few days, partly because of sensitivities surrounding the mass shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. Kerry became the front runner for the top diplomatic post in the wake of U.N. Newton Mayor Participating in Obama for NH 24 Hour Bus Tour

Surrogates hope to make case to middle-class voters that president deserves re-election.

The Obama for New Hampshire “Around the Clock for Barack” tour and phone banking initiative got underway a little past 5 p.m. in Concord on Oct. 18, with local politicians and Democratic activists calling voters around the state and promoting the president’s re-election campaign. The campaign and its surrogates including Newton Mayor Setti Warren, former Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, former U.S. Rep.
