Sunday: Run of the Charles Canoe and Kayak Race
Over 1,200 canoe and kayak enthusiasts, professional, amateur, and recreational, from throughout the US and Canada, ages 12 and up, compete in a variety of races.

Volunteer tasks include check-in/registration, set-up, boat number spotting, safety, and clean-up.
Volunteers are still needed to help with the race events.
The 30th Annual Run of the Charles Canoe & Kayak Race is coming soon! The race, which runs through Newton, Waltham and Watertown among other local communities, will be held on Sunday, April 29. The annual event includes a 6-, 9- and 19-mile race as well as a 24-mile, five-leg canoe relay race for athletes and paddlers of all skills and ages. A 26-mile professional marathon is also included in the day's events, according to the Charles River Watershed Association's website. The CRWA is hosting the race. The race also runs through Dedham, Needham, and Wellesley and is intended to highlight recent improvement on the river. It draws more than 1,500 paddlers annually.
