What Should Fill this Empty Centre Street Storefront?

The vacant space was formerly occupied by the Newton Corner Mart.

Welcome to Visions for Vacancies, a Patch feature and a place where you can weigh in with your ideas about what kind of businesses you’d like to see occupying empty storefronts around Newton. Every couple of weeks, we’ll highlight a vacant building, storefront or structure around the city. Then, we’ll leave it you, the Newton community, to sound off on what you’d like to see there. Today's feature looks at 447 Centre St., the former Newton Corner Mart.  This storefront has great access to the Mass. Pike and although it is on a busy stretch of Centre Street, there is plenty of parking on Centre Street and around the corner on Richardson Street. There is also a lot located behind the building. According to the "for lease" sign on the front …

What I would like to see in any and all available retail and office spaces in Newton is to have government offices relocated to them, starting with the Newton School Department. Empty 100 Walnut Street of School Department offices, and use that building as an annex to the Day Middle School. DON'T make Day use the former Carr School on Nevada Street. Re-open the Carr …   more ›
