Wlliams Elementary 5th Graders Help Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

The students raised hundreds of dollars for the Red Cross.

They may only be in elementary school, but that doesn't mean they can't make a difference. The 5th graders at Williams Elementary School recently raised $500 for the Red Cross to help Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, according to a press release on the Newton Public Schools website.  Each year, the 5th graders typically put together several fundraising efforts to help fund special activities that take place around their graduation. This year, though, the students decided to put some of their efforts toward helping those who had been devastated by Hurricane Sandy.  While putting together a bake sale for election day, the students suggested putting out a tip jar for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts, the press release said. Tonight: Community Meeting for Riverside Station Development

The meeting will be held at Williams Elementary and starts at 7 p.m.

Residents and community members are invited to a meeting tonight at Williams Elementary School to discuss future plans of a mixed-use development at Riverside Station. The meeting, which starts at 7 p.m., will include the latest development proposal from BH Normandy. According to the website for the Riverside Station Neighborhood Coalition, the meeting will give residents a chance to voice opinions, comments and questions about the potential project. According to the coalition's site, the 1.7 million square foot project is situated on a 25.3-acre site on Grove Street. The current mixed-use development proposal includes 240 housing units, 595,000 square feet of office space, 14,800 square feet of retail space and 2,720 parking spaces. The …
