CBS Boston gets an "exclusive interview" with the Cape Cod bear via one of the novelty Twitter accounts about him.
After coming out of the tree in Chestnut Hill--albeit a little roughly--last week, the Brookline Bear had a few things to say about Brookline, and about the whole situation, which he mentioned in an exclusive "interview" with CBS Boston's Jon Keller. Hear the full interview on CBS Boston. The Bear told Keller, "I’ve heard so much about the one-percent from my friends in the Occupy Picnic Baskets movement I wanted to see for myself, and that’s why I was hanging out in the backyard of that mansion in Brookline. Wow, what a crib! You’d think they could afford garbage cans with lids, but that seems to be a problem for you humans that cuts across class lines." Within hours of the bear being located, the @BrooklineBear account appeared on …

Environmental officials captured a black bear in Brookline this afternoon and have confirmed that it is the bear that spent time on the Cape earlier this month.
Massachusetts wildlife officials confirmed this afternoon that the bear caught in Brookline earlier today is the famous Cape Cod Bear who traveled from the South Shore to Cape Cod a few weeks ago. According to a press release issued by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, officials cannot confirm that all the recent sightings around Metro Boston are the same bear, only that the bear captured in Brookline today is the same as the bear captured in Wellfleet on June 12. While on the Cape, the bear hung out in backyards, feasting on birdseed and other goodies, in South Plymouth for at least a week before swimming across the Cape Cod Canal. Wildlife officials caught that bear after it roamed the Cape for …
The big black bear that appears to have worked his way from the far west Boston suburbs almost to Brookline captured the attention of the entire Boston area.
It started over the weekend in the far western suburbs of Boston: reports of a wandering black bear. Or, as it became known as feverish reports popped up on Twitter as the weekend turned into Monday, the #BlackBear. He — or she — appears to have wandered his/her way for miles, almost to the Boston city line. Massaschusetts was fascinated: Twitter was afire with breaking news reports of where the bear had been seen. Television jumped into the coverage, too. Monday night, the bear was seen at the Newton/Brookline town line, near Skyline Park. At around 9:30 p.m., reports started coming in from residents. Shortly after that, a thunderstorm rolled through the area. Mass. Environmental Police told local police to leave the bear alone unless …
After last night's chase and thunderstorm, Brookline Police found the bear sleeping in a tree in South Brookline this morning. Reports indicate crews are working to remove the bear from the tree.
Update 3:10 p.m. Remember the Cape Cod bear from earlier this month? Officials say the Brookline bear is the same bear. 2:35 p.m. State wildlife officials confirmed in a press conference this afternoon that the bear captured in Chestnut Hill today is the same bear that was roaming Cape Cod earlier this month. 1:45 p.m. According to Reginald Zimmerman, spokesman for the Massachusetts Dept. of Energy and Environmental Affairs, it is "highly likely" the bear caught in Chestnut Hill today is the same bear that was spotted in Newton and Needham yesterday. Zimmerman also said the bear will be safely transported to a location in Western Massachusetts. 12:45 p.m. According to a report posted on Boston.com, Brookline Police believe the bear …

The black bear was spotted off 2nd Avenue in Needham on Monday.
A black bear that was spotted near the Newton/Needham line Monday morning may have been the same bear spotted in Westwood and other surrounding towns over the weekend. The first sighting in the area was reported in Medfield on Saturday, when residents of the Granite Street and South Street areas reported seeing the animal roaming the neighborhoods. On Sunday morning, at around 6:30 a.m., the Westwood Police Department received one report of a black bear sighting by a resident of Nahatan Street. No other sightings, however, were reported in town over the weekend. The story was a bit different in Dedham and Norwood, however. The Norwood Police Department received several calls around 10 p.m. Saturday of a black bear sighting in the areas …
