Newton Police Log: Robbery Reported on Needham Street

Robbery on Needham Street Police responded to Needham Street for a report of a robbery that reportedly occurred outside Boston Ski and Tennis on Friday, May 17. The victim said someone stole money from her and then ran behind buildings. The thief was described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a light scruffy beard. He was wearing a red and black puffy jacket, baggy jean shorts, a white T-shirt and black sneakers, according to the victim. Stolen wood Police received a call from Homer Street on Monday, May 20 after someone reportedly entered a worksite Saturday night or Sunday morning and stole two 2x12s.  Remember to lock your doors Police responded to three motor vehicle break-in calls on Monday, May 20 on Sylvan …

Newton Police Log: Stolen Car, B&E via Skylight, Vehicle Vandalism

Not Really a Fair Trade Newton Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Beacon Street on May 12. According to police reports, the vehicle's owner said he parked his Subaru station wagon in the driveway at about 10 p.m. on May 11. He left the doors unlocked with the keys under the driver's side floor mat. At about 6 a.m. on May 12, police reports say, he noticed the vehicle missing from the driveway. A bicycle had been placed in the area of the driveway where the vehicle was parked. B&E and Trespassing Newton Police arrested Jonathan Payne, 22, on May 12, after a caller reported that Payne was currently trespassing in a Christina Street home. Warrant for assault, armed burglary A Newton man was arrested on Feb. 22 on a warrant out of Newton District Court, reports said.  Michael Diroma Jr., 20, of 308 California St. #12, was wanted on a warrant for armed burglary, assault with a dangerous weapon, larceny from a building, conspiracy and intimidating a witness, police said. Stolen trash barrel A woman came in to Newton Police Headquarters on Feb. 22 to report that sometime in the last month her blue city-issued trash barrel had been stolen from the front of her home on Mt. Ida Terrace. Stolen wallet Police responded to the Chestnut Hill Medical Center (25 Boylston St.) on Feb. 22 after an employee reported her wallet was stolen from the office. Man arrested at Italian Festival A Newton teen was arrested Wednesday after he was allegedly spotted walking through the St. Mary of Carmen Society Festival with a beer. Michael A. Amendola, 19, of 36 Deforest St., was arrested for being a minor in possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. According to reports, police received a call at 8:20 p.m. for a man who was walking around the fairgrounds with a bottle of Rolling Rock. Reports said Amendola attempted to flee officers when they approached. Amendola has been arrested several times in the last couple months, including one arrest for domestic assault and another arrest on a warrant out of Newton District Court. Warrant arrest A Newton man was arrested Monday on a warrant out of Newton District Court, police said. Murilo Pereira Debrito, 17, of 368 Elliot St. #2, was arrested on a warrant for driving without a license, leaving the scene of property damage and use without authority, reports said. Debrito was also charged with failure to appear, police said. Alleged Prilosec Thief According to police reports, loss prevention officers at Star Market reported a man stole a basket of Prilosec medication from the Boylston Street supermarket Tuesday. The man was spotted walking out of the store around 2 p.m. and was described as a white male, approximately 6-feet tall and around 280 pounds. He fled in a grey pickup truck toward Route 9 and was wearing a grey t-shirt, jeans, hiking boots and a Celtics baseball cap, reports said. Thefts from motor vehicles Newton Police responded to several thefts from vehicles last week: Home and business break-ins Police also responded to other thefts in the city involving businesses, reports said: Man gets a little too frustrated with ATM A 48-year-old Newton man became angry and smashed a door window last Thursday after an ATM allegedly took his card. According to police reports, a Sovereign Bank employee told officers the customer came to the back door of the bank to tell the employee he was unable to retrieve his card from the ATM machine and needed the employee to get the card out. The employee said he told the man he needed a photo ID to retrieve the card. The man said he did not have an ID but could leave to get one and …

Motor vehicle stop leads to arrest A Quincy woman was arrested Wednesday after she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Grove Street and Haggar Street, reports said. Paula Da Silva, 22, of 11 Watson Road #304, was arrested for driving without a license. Da Silva was also cited for failure to stop for a stop sign, police said. Arrest after truck inspection on Waltham Street A Pawtucket, R.I. man was arrested Thursday after an inspection of his truck/trailer parked on Waltham Street, reports said. During the inspection, police found the truck driver had a warrant out of Lincoln, MA. Remberto A. Padilla, 33, of 12 Tower St. #2, was arrested on the warrant for larceny over $250. Mattapan Man Arrested Following Alleged Robbery in Chestnut Hill

The man is being held pending a dangerousness hearing, the DA's Office said.

A Mattapan man was arrested Monday after he allegedly robbed one man and attempted to rob another in the area of Hammond Street and Middlesex Road. Dominique Bovell, 17, of 33 Suncrest Road, was charged with armed robbery, assault and battery and unarmed assault with intent to rob, police said. These robberies are among several that have happened in the same Chestnut Hill area including an alleged armed robbery at the Chestnut Hill MBTA station and another that occurred earlier last week. However, police could not comment whether Bovell was tied to previous robberies in Chestnut Hill.  According to police reports, the first victim called Newton Police just before 11 p.m. Monday to report that he was robbed earlier in the evening. Police Log: Fight at Cabot Park Draws Crowd of Students, One Teen Arrested

Police observed a group of 75-100 kids cheering at the park Monday afternoon after responding to reports of a large fight.

A Newton teen was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly fought a peer at Cabot Park while a crowd of students watched. According to police reports, officers received a call for a large fight at the park around 2:45 p.m. and arrived on scene to find about 75-100 high school students in a large circle. The teens were yelling and clapping, reports said, but the group began to disperse and flee once police arrived on scene.  While questioning some of the kids, police spoke with a girl who said she spotted the crowd and thought at first they were celebrating something, but soon saw two kids punching each other. A witness told officers a lot of kids from Newton North High School were aware of the fight and had gone to the park. Police …
