Join the Newton-Needham Chamber in Supporting Back Bay Businesses

The Chamber is offering transportation to Back Bay businesses on Wednesday, May 8.

Roughly a week after Back Bay was reopened to the public, the local chamber of commerce is lending a hand to the businesses affected by the April 15 Boston Marathon Bombings. The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation to provide free round-trip bus rides to the Back Bay next week. The trip will take place on Wednesday, May 8, and will allow locals to shop and dine at the stores and restaurants that lost business while Back Bay was shut down.  “It’s unusual for the Newton-Needham Chamber to be promoting commerce outside of our two communities but this is a very worthy exception,” Chamber President Greg Reibman said in a statement. “We’re really pleased to be standing in solidarity with…

The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has voted to support all three proposed override questions, according to a press release issued today by the Chamber. Newton voters will head to the polls on March 12 to vote on the three override questions, which include an $8.4 million operating override as well as two debt exclusion overrides for the rebuilding of Angier and Cabot elementary schools. “This was not an easy decision because we recognize that increased property taxes are a significant burden for many Newton businesses,” Joseph De Vito, chairman …
