ReplyIn the real world(the dreaded private sector) we are NOT getting 21/2% raises. Not only that, we are LOSING benefits, thanks to State controlled health care. 2 1/2% in automatic, every year tax increase should be more than enough for responsible law makers to provide us a beautiful city. Let me have the rest so I can choose how to spend it on my children. I KNOW I will make better use of the money than free spending politicians and their union lackeys. Evey one don't forget, the last school building Newton constructed before Newton North was Newton North. That is unacceptable leadership. Stop the waste, vote NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.

On the article Newton Class Sizes Down Slightly; School Committee Focuses on Need for Override

Dan Fahey dont start telling me who is and who isnt responsible for the newton north tragedy. The fact of the matter is that no current or future school committee member would have ever blocked the project, or any project that digs deeper into my pocket. If a Taj Ma High school debt exclusion could have passed, we would have had a vote. Our property taxes are automatically raised 2 1/2% EVERY year. This is never enough for you politicians. You people LOVE spending other peoples money. In this country, we spend the most on education in the world, and yet, our children are getting crushed. This is because of poor management by school committee members such as you, dan fahey. Focus on the teachers and curriculum(more math, less feelings classes), and less on buildings and yourselves. Please vote NO NO NO, and stop voting for people like dan fahey. Look to people who understand a budget, and how tough it is right now for us suckers working in the private sector.

ReplyThis is the same rotten to the core school committee that thought building the Taj Ma high school was a great idea, and would NOT require an override. With the money wasted on that building, we could have renovated ALL of our crumbling elementary schools. Dont forget, the only people getting raises in this horrible economy are government workers. They get their raises by digging deeper into the pockets of hard working private sector workers. Let the school committee sleep in the bed they have made, vote NO NO NO.

WELL, YOU LIED(BIG SURPRISE). THE ONLY PEOPLE GETTING RAISES IN THIS ROTTEN ECONOMY ARE GOVERNMENT WORKERS. ALL YOU GOVERNMENT WORKERS DO IS REACH INTO OUR POCKETS TO FUND THESE RAISES. i SAY VOTE NO NO NO, MAKE THE ROTTEN LOCAL LAWMAKERS SLEEP IN THE BED THEY HAVE MADE FOR THEMSELVES..

ReplyWe were promised that we could afford that horrible, overpriced high school. The cost of that atrocity could have paid the much needed renovations on ALL of our crumbling elementary schools. Let the lying, fat(not weight) local bastard politicians sleep in the bed they have made. Vote NO NO NO. And if thats not enough, take a page out of the democrats playbook and vote NO NO NO again!

ReplyTHE LIAR MAYOR COHENS LEGACY LIVES ON. WHEN THE LIAR COHEN TOLD US WE WOULDNT NEED AN OVERRIDE TO PAY FOR THAT HIDEOUS HIGH SCHOOL I COULD SEE HIS NOSE GROW A FOOT. ANOTHER BAD IDEA IS TO TAKE AWAY PARKING FROM THE STORES OF NEWTONVILLE, I MEAN, THAT WOULD REALLY BE GREAT FOR THE SHOPS. I'M READY TO FIGHT AND DEFEAT ANOTHER OVERRIDE, SO BRING IT ON YOU PUBLIC WORKING LEACHES.

What an incredibly well written letter. What Setti warren is asking for in tax hikes is just about the same amount we have to pay per year on that ridiculous Taj Mahigh School. We were promised no override would be necessary to build that school, and fill Mayor cohens ego. Obviously, we were lied to(big surprise). 99.9% of communities in this world would be in heaven if they had a budget like Newtons. But with our greedy politicians and unions, whatever we give them is never enough. We must vote NO NO NO and restore some amount of fiscal sanity to city hall. I keep reminding everybody, the last school constructed before Newton North was Newton North. This is poor leadership. The only way to stop these people from wasting our money is to stop giving them more and more. 2 1/2% in automatic yearly property tax increase should be plenty. More than they deserve, frankly.
