Let Them Eat ... Burritos ... in Newtonville

Are you ready for some award-winning Mexican cuisine in Newtonville?

Looks likes Newtonville will get a taste of a West Roxbury favorite in the near future.

Signs in the window at 324 Walnut St., in Newtonville indicate that the Los Amigos Mexican Grill will be arriving soon. Public records indicate building permits were issued in June to convert the former nail salon into the new restaurant.

Los Amigos Mexican Grill opened in February 2012 on Centre Street in West Roxbury and was the first venture into restaurant ownership for Newton South graduate Daniel Ustayev. Actually, his father, Nathan Ustayev, funded the restaurant, but Daniel runs the operation, according to an article on West Roxbury Patch.

He told West Roxbury Patch in March 2012 that the Centre Street venture turned out to be just what the community needed. Last September, according to the restaurant's Facebook page, it was ranked among the Top 5 best burritos in Boston in a Boston A-List poll.

According to the restaurant's website, Lost Amigos Mexican Grill specializes in "local products that are made fresh daily and served fast." Menu items include a variety of burritos (of course) as well as quesadillas, soft tacos and Mexican plates.

No opening date for the new restaurant has yet been announced.
