What's Going in at Former BofA Site in Newton Highlands?

The former location of Bank of America in Newton Highlands is now under construction.

When Bank of America shuttered its doors in Newton Highlands last August, Patch asked readers to weigh in on what they'd like to see at the site.

There were a couple of "votes" for a fast-food restaurant, as they are relatively hard to find in the area, as well as a discussion of a small housewares shop.

Well, the verdict is in and it's going to look a lot like it did a year ago.

According to inspection documents available on the City of Newton website, Brookline Bank will be taking up residence at 1156-1160 Walnut St. in Newton Highlands.

Brookline Bank currently operates a branch at 44-45 Lincoln St. It's unclear at this time whether the Walnut Street location will be in addition to the Lincoln Street branch or will replace it.

Requests for comment to Brookline Bank have not been returned, but additional information will be added when it becomes available.
