Changing Genders: Author to Discuss Memoir at JCC

Author Joy
Ladin will discuss her memoir Through the
Door of Life: A Jewish Journey Between Genders
at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center (333 Nahanton
Street) in Newton on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:30pm.

In 2008, Dr.
Ladin made headlines when after years of teaching at an Orthodox Jewish
university as a man, she returned as a woman.
She will discuss the transition process, not just of changing genders
but of creating a new self.

Moderating the
discussion will be Dr. Norman Spack, co-founder of Children’s Hospital’s Gender
Management Service Clinic in Boston.
